I’m Kayla Dean. In short, I am a…
Believer.–I am a firm believer in the power, redemption, and love of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am passionate about my part in his master plan of world missions, whether I will be welcoming, sending, mobilizing, or going. This relationship (not religion) is worth more to me than anything in my life.
Wife.–I am completely, undeniably in love with my husband, Preston Dean. We were childhood sweethearts, survived college together–and graduate school. We’ve seen each other at our worst and still, we long for more. ❤
Mother.–My sweet little boy made me a mother in 2011. I love our little jokes, imaginative play, kisses, and cuddles.
Author.–In 2014, I published my first book, Muted. Set in Searcy, Arkansas, Muted is a tale of redemption, following the story of Kennan Wesley, a disfigured mute who has been imprisoned by his own family in order to shield him from “a world he could never be a part of.” Autumn Leaflets is a collection of poetry inspired by Johnny Mercer’s “The Autumn Leaves”. Ferocity, book one of The Ferocity Series, follows a band of three siblings after a worldwide societal fallout. I also have a short story featured in Fiction Break Favorites.
Educator.–My educational journey began in 2007 when I started working as a student tutor at a local community college. Currently, I am the director of the tutoring centers on four college campuses —and loving every minute of it!
Nature-lover.–I have often joked that if I could do ANYTHING I would travel the world and practice natural photography. (You can check out my amateur photography on my Instagram.) Nature is my inspiration and my rest as it constantly guides me back toward my Creator.
Creative.–I LOVE the arts and experiment with all things creative. You can often find me singing, drawing, painting, practicing my photography, and of course, writing in MANY different genres.
Adventurer.–My heart BEATS for three things: Jesus Christ. My family. and Adventure. I find adventure in the everyday. Beauty is in the ordinary. You just have to know where to look.
As you can see, I am also quite the talker. I DO LOVE to talk. I hope you will converse with me. I look forward to learning more about you in the comments.
❤ With love, ❤
